The fir tree has always been associated with Christmas, certainly in the northern hemisphere, where it is often used as a Christmas tree. Travelling around the globe, from as far as Colorado in the United States, to the Black Forest in Germany, you can see the fir tree is cultivated in special plantations ready for Christmas. It's hard needle leaves and cones that eventually burst, enabling the seeds to disperse and produce yet more firs, characterise this evergreen. A member of the pine family, the fir tree is more ecologically friendly than other pine trees, being more resilient to the effects of climate change. This means that it is environmentally a winner, as well as contributing to many families' Christmas decorations. The hard needle mixed fir garland is a perfect focal point for Christmas decorations, and will look stunning draped along your mantelpiece alongside our snowman, as part of a European white Christmas look. If you are concerned about the planet, you can take heart from the knowledge that it is a sturdy decoration and natural looking but unlike the real thing, can be used over and over again, thus helping reduce tree logging. At 1.8m long, you can also drape it over a door, use it as a table decoration or drape it over stair railings or posts. Its uses are practically endless. A note of caution however, best to keep it up out of children's reach, as the needles forming the leaves are quite sharp. If you would like to see this garland, and many others, you can visit any of our stores where our staff will be happy to assist you with your choice of Christmas decorations.
