    There are many stories that call attention to the origins of the legend of Santa Claus, St. Nick, Kris Kringle, or Father Christmas, but most seem to suggest that he originated somewhere in the cold northern countries of Germany, Holland, or Scandinavia. We think our Singing and Dancing Santa with Sack depicts what this old world gift giver might have looked like, with his simple wintry cap, heavy overcoat, and trousers.

    Santa's costume is done in velvet-like red fabric all trimmed with white faux fur, and his coat has a paisley print in keeping with his old world look. He wears black boots and a black belt, and sports a long white beard and round rimless spectacles. He carries two packages tied up with gold ribbon in one hand, and in the other he carries a gold satin sack filled with goodies and tied with a gold braided cord.
